ABOUT US

Sanskar, Sanskriti aur Shiksha ka Samagam is what Buddha World School, is all about. It has been conceptualized to carry forward the ancient Indian tradition of Ashram’s in the contemporary milieu.

Our school is situated in Vaishali, which is one of the most backward districts of the country. Though historically, Vaishali enjoys a special place in the Buddhist and Jain tourism circuit and is also the birth place of Republic, it has remained backward.

The standard of education is very poor and the area lacks good schools for the overall development of children. Due to this shortfall, most parents who can afford it, send their children to Patna, Ranchi or Delhi for their schooling. The remaining ones stay in Vaishali without good schooling and learning opportunities.

It is these children that our school is catering to by charging basic minimal fees from the villagers. Our school is based on the ancient Ashram system and yet very modern in teaching methodology and school infrastructure.

At Buddha World School (BWS) we believe that every child is a divine gift to humanity. Thus we have a moral commitment towards enhancing the capabilities of every child, and provide opportunities for their overall growth and development.

Our children are not only getting trained to be self-reliant, a consistent effort is being made to integrate them with their surroundings, whether it is sensitizing them towards the rich cultural heritage of Vaishali or working towards community development through ‘One Good Act A Day’. Our children visit nearby areas and conduct weekly classes through learning buses, they actively conduct cleaning drives to maintain the serenity of Vaishali’s historical and cultural sites among other similar efforts.

An amalgamation of traditional and modern, in May 2019 BWS got affiliation from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as we continue to experiment with experiential learning methods for the holistic development of children.

By developing their life and work skills, our vision is to provide handholding and infrastructure to these village children till the time they become successful professionals enabling them not only to take up best jobs but also become job creators.

Being self-funded thus far, and given the humble paying capacity of the parents, it’s a struggle to keep up with our mission to provide quality education, infrastructure and skilling to these village Children.

However, under the mentorship of Lt.Col. Bajrang Bihari Singh, founder member of Simultala Avashiya Vidyalaya and continuing guidance and moral support of luminaries such as Prof. Sanjay Sinha, B.R.Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Shri Durga Pd. Sahu, Ex Teacher, Netarhat Vidyalaya, Shri Mangal Deo Pandey, Ex Principal Netarhat Vidyalaya, Shri Malik Habib Gufran, Ex Principal Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Colonel Keshav Kumar Singh among others, we are striving to make all Buddhites successful professionals and good human beings.

We invite all to be a part of this enriching journey…

Academics has been my grounding while journalism was my chosen expression for some years. My tryst with journalism landed me the IE Business School award for Best Journalistic Work for Economic Journalism in Asia and the RedInk Award for Excellence in Indian Journalism among others. Currently, as Head of the School — Buddha World School — in one of the most backward districts of the country, Vaishali, our team is trying to impart quality education in rural Bihar.

Given the poverty, lack of exposure and learning opportunities, and no good English medium schools, the standard of education is extremely poor in the area. There are no avenues for the holistic development of children. It is this gap that Buddha World School is addressing, especially in the sphere of primary to senior secondary education.

Our goal is to work towards overall development of the child with special emphasis on skill development and a right mix of academic, extracurricular activities and sports keyed in the curriculum.

As a journalist, I had covered the ups and downs of businesses and economies, interacted with people at the bottom of the pyramid as well as in the top echelons of India’s corporate world, with some of the world’s most influential business leaders and policy makers. This experience helped me think critically about the socio-economic issues affecting a developing nation. I realised, that education is the only means to bring about concrete and sustainable changes at the bottom of the pyramid. It is this gap, that I, in my own small way, am trying to bridge through my association with Buddha World School.
